For the first time the story of Australian electronic music collective Clan Analogue has been told in the documentary Clan Analogue: Plug In & Switch On, featured on the limited-edition DVD with the new triple-disc set Re Cognition: The Clan Analogue Legacy Collection. The documentary examines the original formation of the Clan Analogue collective in 1992, moving through the late 90s when it gained a reputation as one of Australia’s leading underground electronic music labels and looking at where the collective is today. Clan Analogue: Plug In & Switch On is a timely contribution to a historical perspective on Australian dance and electronic music.
Plug In & Switch On also explores the appeal of electronic music and issues faced by electronic music artists in Australia. Interviewed are founding members Brendan Palmer and Toby Grime, artists such as B(if)tek and Deepchild, past and present Label Managers Gordon Finlayson and Nick Wilson, and a new generation of artists including Winduptoys, Koshowko and Bleepin’ J Squawkins. Plug In & Switch On also includes excerpts from live gigs and rare archival footage.
